Emily Herbst

    Emily H.

    What’s your educational background?
I received by bachelor’s degree in biological science from Purdue Northwest in 2017.

    Professional interests:
I’ve always known that I wanted to help people. I found my fit in admissions helping high school students explore their college career tracks. If I ever leave higher education, my plan is to work in the medical lab in a hospital. It would be a perfect combination of my desire to help people as well as my love of science!

What would people be surprised to know about you?
One thing that would surprise people is that I spend a good amount of my free time practicing acroyoga! In fact, sometimes I am more comfortable standing on my head than my feet.

What do you love about PNW?
Purdue Northwest is easy to fall in love. For me, I love the sense of a community that the campus offers. PNW gives students a true home away from home feeling allowing them to grow as individuals while also giving them a sense of unity as a group. This is accomplished by the smaller class sizes, numerous student organizations, and faculty members willing to work with students to help them achieve their goals.

    Best college search tip:
My best college search tip is to do your research. The college process can be overwhelming at times (I mean you are just deciding your future!) Make a list of 5-7 schools that you are interested in. Figure out their campus size, cost of attendance, student life, etc. Then, go visit the ones that you are able to! You should never chose a school that you have never been to. Finally, ask your representatives for help if you start feeling lost and overwhelmed. This should be a fun process so enjoy it!
